">Mortgage Refinance

« Back to Glossary Index

Refinancing a mortgage involves replacing the existing loan with a new loan. Refinances are usually required if you wish to increase your mortgage amount or amortization length. Refinances are also generally required if you wish to move from one lender to another and have a “collateral charge” mortgage. Because refinancing entails re-registering a mortgage with a province’s land titles office, the use of a lawyer is required.
